RV Awards: Best RV Resorts & States to RV

RVers know that one of the best things about a new year is looking forward to new camping and road trips. We admit it; we’ve already started making campground reservations and mapping out routes for 2017. If you’re doing the same thing, and trying to narrow down your options, we’ve got some helpful hints from Motorhome Magazine and Trailer Life Magazine. Both recently published their 2016 Readers’ Choice Awards for everything RV-related, from the best RV brands and models, to generators, appliances, awnings, even cleaning products. Happily, their readers also voted on RV campground resorts, RV casino resorts and the best states to RV in. It’s always helpful to see what other RVers love the most. So without further ado, let’s jump right in and celebrate the most loved RV destinations.
Oregon Wins Big This Year—Best State to RV

We’ve been saying it for years, so it comes as no surprise to us that the RVers over at Trailer Life Magazine said Oregon is the BEST state to RV in —“From the Columbia Gorge to the Pacific Ocean, and Multnomah Falls to Mount Hood, Oregon is a scenic and recreational paradise. Friendly locals make RVers feel right at home, and the state’s abundance of RV parks ensures happy camping.”

They also gave a shout out to the Travel Oregon website for it’s excellent work in providing trip ideas and information about attractions, events and beautiful outdoor destinations. Additionally, the Travel Oregon website has a handy RV-park search tool that makes it easy to find the perfect places to set up camp.

What makes our state such a perfect destination for RVers (besides the facts that Oregon is one of the most beautiful states in the nation, the “locals” are welcoming and friendly, and we have some seriously awesome RV parks)? The good folks at the Oregon RV Alliance spell it out at Come2Oregon.com:

Year round temperate climate
Endless outdoor activities of all kinds
Scenic byways
Awesome events and festivals
Award-winning casinos (more on that in a minute)
Easy and satisfying sightseeing
Amazing restaurants for dining out
Wide variety of shopping options
Award-winning wineries and breweries
Some of the best fishing in the country
Bike trails galore
Hiking and walking paths

Also, Oregon has a long, happy history with the RV industry, in terms of manufacturing, service and sales. Whether you’re looking for a new or pre-owned RV, or if you need service while you’re travelling, we’re here for you.

Shout Out: The Oregon RV Alliance is a nonprofit labor of love that celebrates all things Oregon and RVing. Be sure and check out their Oregon RV Resource Guide online. You can also find the guide at many Oregon RV parks, campgrounds, dealerships, visitor centers, etc., and members often hand out the guide at RV trade shows, rallies and festivals throughout Oregon. So if you’re going to be travelling, keep your eye out for one of these locations and pick up this useful RVing resource.

Taking a road trip outside of Oregon in 2017? Trailer Life Magazine RVers say Michigan and Colorado are the next best destinations, and Motorhome Magazine voters love Florida and Utah.

RV Casino Resorts & RV Campground Resorts

Oregon had another big win in the RV Casino Resort category in both Trailer Life Magazine and Motorhome Magazine. Seven Feathers RV Resort in Canyonville pulled in the bronze!

We can attest that this RV resort is top notch, whether you want to enjoy the casino; relax in a quiet, beautiful setting; get some shopping in; take a swim; or improve your golf game. With 23 acres of lawns and lush landscaping tucked in amidst fir and pine forests, this resort makes for the perfect patio view from your RV. Amenities include an indoor heated pool and hot tub, a fitness center, a media center, family-style showers and restrooms, a guest lounge for reading or computer use, a gift gallery, a garden walk along Jordan Creek, and a 24-hour restaurant within walking distance. There are bike paths and a deli with ice cream to keep the children and grandchildren happy, and a variety of golf packages at the Cougar Canyon Golf Course.

And of course the Seven Feathers Casino is right across the street. Not only can you enjoy slots, table games, keno and bingo, Seven Feathers has a full calendar of world class performers scheduled in their Umpqua Grand Ballroom, and some of the best comedians, musicians and variety shows in the Elements Lounge.

That’s not all. If you’re looking to pamper yourself, take a leisurely stroll from your RV over to the full service River Rock Spa and sign yourself up for a hot stone massage with aromatherapy, or get a facial or body treatment. If you just need a haircut, they’ll do that too, and of course you can indulge in a manicure or pedicure.

Seven Feathers RV Resort treats their guests right. This is a great spot to settle in for a while and explore the many attractions and events in Southern Oregon.

The other winners in the RV Casino Resort and RV Campground Resort categories had some overlap. Pala Casino Spa RV Resort in Southern California took the gold in both categories and Pechanga RV Resort and Casino, also in Southern California won the silver, so if you’re heading south, be sure and explore those prize winners.

If you’re RVing with children (parents and grandparents, we’re looking at you), be sure to check out the bronze winner in the RV Campground Resort category: The Campsites at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort. This is a perfect way for outdoor enthusiasts and RVing families to get the best of both worlds: Camping in a cypress and pine forest, and easy access to the Magic Kingdom Park by boat across the lagoon. If you’re ready to plan a big family adventure, this might be it.
