Update: In November 2015, Winnebago decided to reintegrate its Itasca vehicles under the Winnebago name. These great models will continue, but under the Winnebago name instead of Itasca.
Last week, in Part 1 of this blog, we looked at one of our favorite RV manufacturers for gas-powered (or motorized) Class A motorhomes: Itasca. This week, we’re going to talk about diesel pushers built by Newmar Corporation.
Diesel Class A

The Ventana is available in twelve different floor plans. The 2016 models add even more power and technology to an already amazing diesel pusher; new additions include the STAR Foundation that strengthens the already powerful Freightliner chassis, an upgraded cockpit with color rear view monitoring system, side view cameras, a premium audio system and a wireless charging mat for your smartphone or tablet. You may also choose from long list of luxury add-ons to make your RV a true home away from home.
Newmar’s Dutch Star is an RV industry legend and one of the best-selling diesel pushers in North America. As with the Ventana, Newmar has added the new STAR Foundation to the Freightliner chassis with its extraordinary hydraulic leveling system. They’ve also brought in a cathedral ceiling, adding six inches of additional headroom to the rear of the bath-and-a-half models. You’ll find full tile flooring in the 2016 models as well, extending all the way into the slide outs. And now you can add fun features like a sidewall entertainment center with a 40” Sony LED TV and soundbar, as well as a hammock beneath your power awning so you can relax in style.
Newmar’s Commitment to Accessibility
Newmar builds an entire line of wheelchair-accessible Class As. For 2016, they’ve built two accessible diesel pushers: the Ventana 4311 and the Dutch Star 4311. (They also have a gas-powered accessible Class A, the Canyon Star 3911.) You’ll get all the best Newmar features in the Ventana and the same level of luxury you’d expect from the Dutch Star, but with ultimate accessibility as well.
