This summer, take the Central Oregon RV Tour and experience the beauty of Oregon in a way you never have before. Far different from hotels and long flights, driving your RV through the scenic cascades will be something you won’t soon forget.
The trip suggested here can be done in a weekend. It covers 326 miles and the drive time is about 7.5 hours total. Here’s a link to the map for it from Eugene:
Head east on Highway 126 toward Bend. Make sure you stop at the breathtaking Sahalie Falls and have a picnic lunch. The best RV parking is before you reach the main exit; about a quarter mile before the parking lot. The falls are just a short (flat) hike in.
If you’re not much of a picnicker, drive on through to Sisters, Oregon and have the fish and chips at The Gallery restaurant. You may wonder how The Gallery could have the best fish and chips in the state being as it’s land-locked in the mountains— it’s trucked in fresh every day from the Oregon Coast and worth the stop. Plus, there’s lots of places with easy access to refuel if you need to.
When you’re finished in Sisters, take the short drive to the Newberry National Volcanic Monument in Bend, OR. The lava caves you can tour here that are cooler than 50 degrees inside; a nice break from the desert heat. If you like a more upscale RV Park, plan on staying at the Bend Sisters Garden RV Park. If you prefer a more “natural” RV experience, continue on to Crane Prairie Resort & RV Park.
Today, you’ll want to explore the area around you. There are many options and it depends on what you enjoy. If it’s beer, Bend has several breweries that are worth touring such as the Deschutes Brewery in Bend. If you enjoy the outdoors, there are fishing tours on Crane Prairie Resevoir with breathtaking 360 degree views of the Cascades as well as bald eagles! Or head over to Sun River and hit the greens at Sun River Resort. End the day back at the RV with a relaxing evening watching the sunset.
On the last day of your weekend, get up and make a big breakfast. Finish your day at the beautiful Todd Lake, Oregon. It’s an easy hike and has beautiful views.

After lunch it will be time to head home to Eugene, OR but there will always be next weekend!
