The Golf-RV Lifestyle: Two Great Activities That Go Great Together—Part 2

We’ve said it before, but it’s worth saying again: the golf-RV lifestyle is a match made in heaven. Fortunately for us, Oregon is a great place for both elements of that perfect combination—we’ve got some of the best RV destinations in the world, and also some of the finest golf courses. Last week we looked at online resources and we got a chance to talk about some of the courses called the “7 Gems of Oregon.” This week, we want to tell you about RV golf resorts: those perfect spots that bring the RV and golf lifestyle together, where you can settle in for days in happy RV-golf bliss.

Oregon’s Premier RV Golf Resorts: Mallard Creek Golf Course & RV Resort

Mallard Creek Golf Course and RV Resort in Lebanon is ranks high on everyone’s lists. It has a blend of full hook-up, pull through and back in sites, each with their own lawn, cable access and WiFi. The resort also features a full service restaurant and bar, with live music on Friday nights.

The 18-hole championship golf course is 7,000 yards of rolling greens along Hamilton Creek and several lakes, meandering through the foothills of the Cascades in the Santiam River drainage basin. The resort offers a variety of Stay & Play RV Packages from 2-nights to monthly deals that include your campsite and unlimited golf. Want to put together an RV-golf rally? They can accommodate groups for a weekend or a week.

Mallard Creek Golf Course is also the first course to introduce FootGolf to our Willamette Valley. A hybrid of golf and soccer, FootGolf is a load of fun. Check out the American FootGolf League website for rules.

Oregon’s Premier RV Golf Resorts: Lewis & Clark Golf & RV Park

The golf course at Lewis & Clark Golf & RV Park in Astoria is a regulation length, 9 hole, par 36 course. The professional quality greens with “Tour Green Performance” are chemical-free, maintained with 100% organic products, so if you have chemical or environmental sensitivity, this is the course for you.

The RV Park is “Big Rig Friendly” (they can accommodate RV’s up to 90 feet) and the golf course is just steps away. They offer sites with 30, 50 and 100 amp services, have on-site laundry and shower facilities, and have facilities for large groups of RV golfers, including an RV Super Site that can be combined with their deluxe cottages, so you can bring the whole family.

The glory of being in beautiful Astoria is that there is also SO MUCH to do when you’re done golfing. The resort staff will be glad to provide you with: eight mapped day trips to points of interest, directions to six museums (including a world class Maritime Museum), and information about Astoria Historical Home Tours, the riverfront trolley, the craft beer trail, galleries, restaurants, hiking trails, fishing trips and more. Check out the website for points of interest and the calendar of local events.

Oregon’s Premier RV Golf Resorts: Crooked River Ranch Golf Course and RV Park

Crooked River Ranch Golf Course and RV Park in Terrebonne is sometimes called the hidden jewel of Central Oregon, and is home to one of the most beautiful and challenging holes in golf: the No. 5 Canyon hole. While you’re completely mesmerized with the view of the Crooked River Canyon and the river hundreds of feet below, you’ll need to hit the tee shot across the corner of a canyon wall to get to the green. The trick is to keep your eye on the ball instead of the gorgeous scenery.

The RV park is just a short walk from the course and can accommodate the largest motorhomes. They have 90 RV spaces with 30 & 50 amp full service hookups. High speed wireless Internet is available and there is a new swimming pool, tennis courts, a laundry room, pay showers, a playground, and a spot to buy ice and convenience items. Click here to view the new map of the RV Park.

While you’re in Terrebonne, don’t miss the opportunity to hike at the famous Smith Rock State Park. With several thousand different climbs in the park, as well as miles of hiking and mountain biking trails with views of the river canyon, you can expect to see Golden Eagles, Prairie Falcons, deer, river otters and beavers.

Oregon’s Premier RV Golf Resorts: On the River Golf-RV Resort

On the River Golf-RV Resort in Myrtle Creek is not the largest of Oregon’s golf-rv resorts, but it’s glory is its location, beauty and the fun nature of the course. It is located on the South Umpqua River, so has the added appeal of thousands of feet of river frontage where you can fish, canoe/kayak, swim, pan for gold, or simply relax. Of course this means you have the added challenge of keeping your golf balls out of the water, which is part of the fun. The 6-hole course (longest hole is 95 yards) is Par 3 and includes water and sand hazards on each hole.

The RV park offers a new clubhouse, built from lumber harvested and milled on the resort property, and includes a pool table, fireplace, cooking facilities for large groups and laundry facilities. There are Koi and lily ponds on the grounds, as well as a free RV & car wash, a catch & release fish pond (Smallmouth Bass, Bluegill & Catfish), riverfront fire pits and hiking trails. There are 9 pull-through sites with full-hookups and 39 back-in sites with full-hookups.

Myrtle Creek is close to Crater Lake National Park and Oregon Caves National Monument, and a variety of fine wineries are within easy driving distance, as well as Wildlife Safari, the Oregon Coast, and Seven Feathers Casino.

Between our great RV destinations and great golf courses, Oregon is a perfect place to live the golf-RV lifestyle to its fullest. We hope to see you on your next golf-RV road trip. Remember, Guaranty RV is an easy detour from I-5 if you need service, propane, dog grooming, or if you just want to talk RVs. Give us a call!
