Small RVs to Give You the Best Bang for Your Buck, Part 1

You’ve been dreaming of it for years: a road trip across America with your partner, no kids, no worries, just wide open road and plenty of outdoor adventures. But you’re still in the market for the perfect small RV to get you there.

We recently wrote about deciding between big (Class A), small (Class B), and medium (Class C) RVs (you can read that here); if you’re still trying to decide between the smaller Class B’s or a roomier Class C, we hope we can help. In this blog post, we’ll cover our top picks for Class B’s. (And next week, we’ll cover all our top picks for Class C’s.)

What Are Class B RVs?

As a reminder, Class B motorhomes are typically classified as camper vans; they are built on a smaller frame similar to a truck or van, making them more fuel efficient, easier to handle, and, of course, much smaller.

Class B’s have long been popular with traveling couples, for both long and short tips; in recent years, however, Class B’s have become even better, providing amenities previously only seen in larger motorhomes.

One of the best attributes of Class B’s is that, if you’re dealing with a Homeowner’s Association that doesn’t allow motorhomes to be parked in driveways or alongside your home, a Class B is often allowed. This is something to consider for storage, which can get expensive if you can’t park at home!

Our Topic Picks for Class B’s

When it comes to choosing a Class B motorhome, there are plenty to choose from—but with so many options, it’s easy to get overwhelmed. Thankfully, here at Guaranty, we offer some of the top manufacturers like RoadTrek, Pleasure-Way, Winnebago, and more. We have the expertise to help you narrow the field.

One of our top picks is the Winnebago Era. Winnebago bills the Era as the most affordable Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van camper out there. The average fuel economy for the Era is 21.3 mpg. As well, the Era has features like Ultraleather furniture, LED ceiling lights, Corian countertops, powered patio awning with LED lights, and double-door rear storage. If you’re looking for a sturdy camper van with a smooth drive, a little more luxury than the average, and a great starting price, the Winnebago Era is a great option. Our next pick comes from another one of the top Class B manufacturers: Pleasure-Way. The Pleasure-Way Ascent is one of Pleasure-Way’s most compact Class B model’s and comes in at less than 20 feet in length, making it ideal for managing both urban roadways, open highways, and campgrounds. The Ascent comes with an electric sofa bed, a power patio awning, dual 100AH lithium coach batteries, and much more. To see what we have in stock regarding the Ascent, click here.

Our next pick is the Coachmen Galleria. The Galleria is built on a 3500 Mercedes Sprinter platform with a clean running turbo-diesel “Blue TEC” engine. The Galleria combines high end with extreme comfort, including an Onan generator and handcrafted cabinetry with soft close drawers and custom trim. Other standard features include a true lay flat memory foam power sofa, wood plank vinyl flooring, multiple USB ports in living areas for easy charging, and much more. Our final pick is the Roadtrek Agile SS. The Roadtrek Agile SS is one of the best Class B’s on the market—we’ve been singing its praises for a long time! You get all the advantages of a large motorhome, but on a smaller scale. The Agile SS is built on a Mercedes-Benz Short Sprinter Chassis, making it a great passenger coach that has plenty of interior space, ease of driving, and enough safety features to keep you feeling secure. Since the Agile SS is built on a shorter chassis, they have unique open concept galleys to make the interior feel more open, providing you with plenty of options for your living space.
