Here at Guaranty RV, we regularly meet people who are interested in exploring the RV lifestyle, but aren’t quite ready to jump in full time with an RV purchase. We also meet folks who own a smaller RV, but wish they had more room to bring a crew of their favorite people… or visa versa, couples who own the family size RV, but would like something smaller to take a romantic trip for two. All of these are times when renting an RV might be the right solution. Whether you’re looking to be gone for two weeks, or you’d like a special day of touring local wineries with your best friends, renting an RV is a brilliant option.

Why Rent an RV?

People rent RVs for a lot of different reasons; sometimes they want to try out a certain brand or model before they buy their own, or they need to make a cross-country trip and it’s just a lot nicer and more convenient to do that in an RV than in a car with hotel and restaurant stops. Not having to pack and unpack every day saves time and stress, and having your own kitchen and bathroom handy means you can always have your favorite food and toiletries easily accessible.

An RV rental vacation is an excellent choice for travelling with groups, both in terms of upping the fun factor and saving on travel costs. A top reason that parents and grandparents love travelling with the kiddos in an RV, is because this lifestyle makes it simple to keep everybody entertained on the road. Depending on which model of RV you rent, you have easy access to a dinette and a comfortable sofa, complete with seat belts, so everyone can safely participate in conversation and games along the way. And it’s easy to stop for bathroom breaks and snacks because everything is right at your fingertips. You save on hotel costs, as well as food and entertainment, so you can spend your money on having more fun.

RV vacations are also ideal for couples. If it’s just the two of you, a smaller RV like a Class B campervan can give you the amenities and flexibility you want in order to either get away to the mountains or take an urban adventure. Class B’s get great gas mileage so you can choose to spend a couple of days at the beach, and then change your mind and head to Central Oregon. It’s a wonderful way to carve out some together time without breaking the bank.

RV rentals aren’t just for the big vacation either. They’re perfect for day trips. For instance, how about a Wine Tour RV Adventure Package? Gather up your favorite people and plan a special day touring wineries in the southern and mid-Willamette Valley. With our wine tour package, you’ll get an RV and a professional driver, as well as limited door-to-door pickup and drop off. Not only that, we’ll provide custom food trays that include croissant sandwiches, fresh fruit, meats, cheese, crackers, and more. All you have to do is enjoy yourself, take in the gorgeous scenery in Oregon wine country, and taste some of the best wine in the nation.

What Will You Need to Rent an RV?

On the day of departure, you will need to arrive with a valid driver’s license. You do not need to have a special license or any training to drive an RV, although we suggest getting in good practice before you hit the road if you’re renting a large Class A. In general, if you rent a Class C motorhome or Class B campervan, it’s not that different than driving a big pickup or van. If you’re nervous about driving a motorhome or towing a travel trailer, we offer classes. Contact us at 1-888-454-9758 for availability.

You will also need a full-coverage insurance binder or endorsement on the rented RV. We’re glad to help you with this. We can contact your automobile insurance company with the required paperwork. Here at Guaranty, we can also add you as a “renter/driver” to our fleet insurance policy if your insurance company won’t fully cover the rented RV with physical damage insurance, Liability/Comp and Collision.

You will have already paid a deposit on the rented RV at the time you reserved it, and this will be applied to your rental fee. When you pick up the RV, you will also have to pay a 100%-refundable security deposit. This will be refunded to you when you return the RV rental in the same condition in which you received it.

You should expect to spend extra time at the rental lot on departure day, in order to get your one-on-one, personal orientation to familiarize you with the processes and procedures you’ll need to know to travel safely and happily in your RV.

How to Decide Which RV is Right for You

We offer a variety of rentals, including Class A and C motorhomes, travel trailers and Class B campervans. In general, when you’re trying to decide which model of RV makes the most sense for your vacation, there are a few things to consider.
How much room do you need? It might be tempting to rent the biggest RV available and have a King of the Highway experience. But remember that the bigger the RV, the more gas it will require and the harder it will be to manage narrow or curving highways and urban areas. Ask yourself if it might make more sense to get the size RV that best accommodates the number of people you want to travel with instead of going for the big rig.

If you’re thinking about renting a big Class A motorhome, how much experience do you have driving a vehicle that large? If you aren’t confident that your driving skills are up to it, be sure to take a driving class beforehand. Or, instead look to a Class C that can give you plenty of space for six or seven travellers, and is easier to drive.

Other considerations:
  • If you already have a tow vehicle, then a travel trailer or fifth wheel rental may be perfect for you, and can save you money on rental costs.
  • If you are two or three people travelling together, a Class B motorhome will get you the best gas mileage of any RV and the best driveability.
  • A Class C motorhome is the most family friendly model and, like the campervans, is one of the easiest RVs to drive. Look for one that has the cab-over bed and your kids will love it!
  • If you are looking for a luxurious home on wheels, be sure to explore renting a Class A motorhome. Vacationing in the lap of luxury is the best ever.
