When it comes to RVs, your options are unlimited. There is truly so much to choose from, in terms of size, price, classification and more. If you’re still trying to navigate the RV landscape, we recommend purchasing a less expensive model to begin with. Read on for the best small motorhomes on any budget.
Especially for first time RVers, it’s difficult to know exactly how much you can expect to pay in ongoing maintenance or travel expenses, what you’ll need in terms of storage or sleep capacity, and more. That’s why we think it’s often best to go for a budget-friendly model, especially used RVs, for your first purchase. Here are 3 of the best small motorhomes for any budget on the market:
2009 Coachmen Freelander 26
At $49,999, this model is great for a first-time RV purchase. A motorized class C, it falls towards the small side of the RV size scale, but don’t let that fool you—this rig still packs power. It runs on a Ford V-10 engine, with 305 horsepower and a 5-speed transmission. Plus, it comes with a barely-used Onan generator, which is the quietest RV generator you’ll find.
And the Freelander has a comfy interior, too. It comes with a true queen bed, a curtain that divides the bedroom from the rest of the vehicle and a shower that’s much bigger than what you’d find in other class C models. The kitchen has a three-burner stove, stainless steel appliances and a dinette that converts into a bed. Even though it’s a used model, this class C is very clean and in excellent condition.
The RV’s exterior includes huge outside storage compartments that you can access from the side or rear. It comes with a picnic table and features an outside shower, too. This previously owned Coachmen Freelander is a great model for a first-time RV purchase.
2008 Winnebago Access 24V
Like the Freelander, the Access 24V is less expensive than many other RVs on the market. It’s a motorized class C that sleeps up to 8 people, thanks to a queen bed, overhead bunk, sofa and dinette that converts into a bed.
This is another model with plenty of storage space, both interior and exterior. And, the rear storage has a drain plug so it can double as an ice cooler once you arrive to your campground.
It runs on gas and has 305 horsepower. Winnebago is known for building motorhomes that last, with steel and aluminum foundations for the flooring and sidewalls. With this used Winnebago Access, you won’t sacrifice durability for a lower price.
2014 Thor Motor Coach Four Winds 22E
This motorized class C might be brand new, but it will still be fairly easy on your pocketbook. The Four Winds 22E is certainly a high quality unit for such a decent price.
If you don’t want to deal with lots of setup in your RV, then this may be the model for you: it doesn’t have any slideouts, so you don’t have to worry about those every time you travel. With that said, it still has plenty of room for your family.
This model has a dinette which seats up to 6 people, a spacious bedroom wardrobe and a large bathroom that combines the sink, toilet and shower all in the same enclosed room.
The exterior has a modern paint design, a huge storage compartment and an outdoor shower. Again, this model is very inexpensive considering it is brand new.
